I'm in the soundhole access camp. That said I want my TR to reach from the end of the tenon and end up reaching under the first fret and preferably a bit past. M |

Unless you want the adjuster at the head. In either case measure your neck plans and choose the one that works or have it made. |

I did a 13 fret OM with 25.4" scale and used a 14 fret rod. Moved it a bit closer to the headstock then let the adjusting nut hang out just a bit more at the heel end. Worked fine. Just do your measurements to see if it will work for you or as Freeman noted you can get a custom rod |

I just finished a 13 fret, 25.34" scale guitar with a Blanchard rod. Beautiful piece of equipment, and since each is made to order, there is no extra charge to make what you need. I have done two 13 fret guitars, and used truss rods sized for a 14 fret. One had the adjustmett at the headstock and the other in the body. This is not really a critical fit - you will find it all works out OK whichever way you do it. |

Glad you posted this. I am doing a 13 fret, 25.34 dread and the TR that I plan on using seems a bit too long. But should me okay. Overthinking it, I guess. |

I adjust my truss rods thru the sound hole and use a Benedetto style rod. I try to set my rod so that the adjuster fits into the neck completely and even to the end of the neck. The far end sits as close to the nut as possible. I do not cut a relief in my top and the complete neck assembly goes in and out of the body easily as a cartridge unit free of obstruction. Your length of truss rod will vary depending on scale length and I don't worry if I have to fudge a bit ( 1/2" ) at the nut end. |
