I have had my first request for EVO gold fret wire on an instrument. My questions are about workability. Can I use my regular tools for nipping, cutting, leveling and crowning as I would nickel silver wire? Does it take considerably more effort to work this wire (I have no desire to over work my aging hands)? Thanks for your comments in advance. |

Regular tools are fine and, at least in my opinion, it takes about the same effort as nickel silver wire. |

It's a little tougher, but nothing like the horror of stainless steel. Do make sure the radius is bent close to that of your fingerboard before you start cutting frets off the coil, since it's more stiff and springy than nickel silver. |

It is harder and springier than NS, so I like the radius not too much tighter than the FB's. Works almost as easily as the NS - It's a little harder to cut, but nothing regular tools/abrasives would have trouble with, just I like a longer handle on the end nippers than you can get away with for NS (my hands are not getting any younger) And it wears measurably better than NS. |

Yeah, you'll be fine. It is noticeably harder as mentioned, but not noticeably harder to work... |

Same experience as the rest, not much noticeable working difference. I've only used medium. Someone said before that working the jumbo evo was much tougher than ns. |

Thanks y'all, I'll be using a medium wire (37080) and have booked the job. |

The main issue I've noticed is that it's harder on cutters and files. Because it's springier you have be sure that it's close to the right radius, or a little over bent, before you put in the frets. If it's too flat you may have trouble getting the ends to stay down. |

I also haven’t found it harder to use than NS. Only difference was cutting it was a bit harder, as it is stiffer, but nothing to complain about. Files easily with diamond files. I like the looks of it. |
