Anybody familiar with Jacon Nelson?

Are these the Grovers we all know and love, or something a little less? Most of his other stuff looks a little overpriced. Anybody have experiencewith him or his products?

That can't be right. I don't think the picture is representative of the product offered (I could be wrong). The title doesn't say anything about Grover or which Grover open backs they would be. They are only marginally more expensive that the decidedly cheap looking plastic buttoned open back tuners on the site. Also, take note that the picture is of a tuner for a slotted peghead and no bushing so keep that in mind.

It would be great if it were true with the 24 plus pricing you could get 4 whole sets for $100.80. That sure would be nice.

It's possible they would be Grovers if he bought them in bulk without packaging, screws and bushings. Still, I would check before placing an order.

That's an interesting site. Says they have been around since 1978. I've never come across this site before. But where else can you buy a Hurdy Gurdy kit?

The only review on the Grovers is from a guy who says he got Grovers. I have used then on about half of my 8 instruments and finally got a set where 2 don't want to work right. I would buy a plan for a Nyckelharrpa.

They are a very good outfit. Alaska Specialty Woods Inc, has been their go to for all their soundboards that are Sitka Spruce for at least 12 years.

Be very wary of Chinese knock off parts!! I see fake d'Addario strings, just saw a Bigsby trem that I am pretty sure was a knock off..... My rule is if it is selling below wholesale it is likely fake! That price is right at current wholesale or a few dollars less depending on which vendor I check with. So be warned, they may say Grover but may not actually be Grover.....

Steve thanks for that link. The hurdy gurdy is a strange beast as you say. The cheap (simple) ones can sound pretty hideous but ones like that played with skill are really quite interesting. I love the elegant cranked handle.
