The idea for this guitar started out 45 years ago as shown in this picture of myself (on the right) and the other guy I worked with Barry .. I always like that guitar and wanted to build another one so here it is… Cedar top from Alaska specialty Woods Padouk back and sides with sapwood ( Creamsicle) mahogany neck and Satinwood purfling J-185 shape- 25.4 scale Sounds incredible right off the bench! Out of the whole build I’m most covetous of your finishing skills:) Also... I bet it has a great sound! Padauk feels and sounds great imo Yes, it does sound really nice-very even up and down the fretboard with an incredible bass and sweet trebles as well. I have been doing the Nitro for a long, long time, I need a break from it..... I have a classical coming up soon that I am going to French Polish and another couple of steel strings that I am going to do brushed varnish. The Padauk is really nice, however the dust is pretty nasty and it tends to bleed if your not careful... The sides bent like butter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro[/quote] |

I guess it is no longer the age of the droopy moustache! Looks like a great guitar, and it is fantastic to recreate a memory. You guys were hanging around with some cool looking instruments back in the day - are those adjustable individual saddles? And you looked pretty good yourselves! |

Yes, those are adjustable saddles-turned out to be not a great idea.... they were glued down and would occasionally pop off while playing. It is much better to take a straight saddle and file the intonation into it, like almost everybody does. |
