Is there a supplier that has different thicknesses of black wood or black fiber and maple? I'm aware of Stewmac and LMII. I'm just trying to avoid thinning pieces from 0.020" to 0.015" with a razor blade if I can avoid it. Also does anyone supply flame maple purfling? Most veneer companies seem to only have paper backed veneer in the thicknesses I'm looking for.

I'm based in Canada. Info about Canadian, US or suppliers from other countries are welcome.

Gurian I believe. They sell black fibre. They may have white fibre in different thicknesses. It's not hard to lay up your own. Fibre is best for the outside layers if you want a cleaner look.

I also get these pre-made from Gurian, but if you don't want to meet the minimum order you can buy the fiber sheets (Black, White, Red and Blue I believe) from RC Tonewoods. I still do this sometimes if I'm out of the pre-made stuff from Gurian. I made a little hold down jig with zero clearance and I just run the fiber sheets through the bandsaw to cut into purfling strips.

Certainly wood is a good veneer source, curly maple and otherwise, lots of different thicknesses: https://www.certainlywood.com
