I contacted gurian on the suggestion of vancouver luthier michael dunn , he suggested buying my rope binding from them instead of making it myself. I was planning to use maple and walnut for my weissenborn build. Gurian uses pau ferro or morado and maple . Have any of you bought from them . and if so what was your experience using their binding /purfling scheme Thank you

Gurians marquetry is really good, I use nobody else. They produce for the major luthier suppliers as well as the guitar manufacturers. I love using their stuff as it is very consistent and it bends easily without separating. Great people as well.

Gurian is very good. They couldn't quite make the ladder strips as small as I wanted, but came very close.

If you need enough to justify the $200 minimum order, then it is worth it. I have purchased from their "overrun" stock, and the purfling is very well made.

$50 if they already make what you want (non custom order)

I really want them to make an overrun of "wheat purfling" the super fine version of herringbone.

Thank you for the link Mikeā€”ver nice stuff, but a little different style than the wheat purfling I'm thinking of.

Sometimes its also called "crows foot."

Lars Rasmussen uses a beautiful version of this style:

Sorry ;
I thought rope was the diagonal purfs.

Make a order from Gurian-I'm sure if you order allot that many other makers
would buy some from you.
Plus get different colors.

thanks mike . I think you get 22 pcs 48 in in L per order for $200. I have at least 4 other future tops and backs which can use the rope binding.
