I need to replace a black nut on a Jackson guitar and I ordered a Black Tusq blank. I marked it out and filed it and the bass string is a little too close to the edge. So before I drop another $12 and order another one (or two), I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas about alternatives to black Tusq. Possibly anything that I can order in bulk would be nice too. Thanks.

If you have a countertop fabricator nearby you coud ask for some corian offcuts. Probably be free if they had any black scraps.

Black Buffalo bone might be an excellent alternative, and low cost.

I use black micarta. Martin used a lot of white micarta. I could send you a couple of nut pieces. No cost. If you need it, just let me know the minimum dimensions. --Bob
