The SNX510 tuner is the open back with the threaded nut bushings.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them, before I buy a set.

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with the press in bushings.....

I have a set that's waiting to go on the current guitar I'm building. I don't have experience with them in use on a finished guitar yet, but I can tell you the threaded bushing design looks identical to that of the closed-back M6 type Gotoh tuners (which I like) that I've been using for a while. The only difference I see in the dimensions important for installation of the open-backed tuners versus the M6 tuners is the distance from the string hole in the post to the base of the tuner plate on the back of the headstock which is shorter by 0.2 mm. If you have used other Gotoh tuners with the threaded bushings it would be good to check to see how the dimensions compare to what you are used to to avoid any surprises. Gotoh has schematic diagrams of their tuners with dimensions on their web site.

Thanks.
I always wait until I have them before I set the head thickness and spacing.

I've also got a set waiting for a guitar. They look pretty good, I've been using the closed back Grovers with the threaded bushings, I don't much care for the press fit type.
I ordered mine from Japan, it does take a while to get them.

If you decide you like the tuners and want to buy more sets, you can get them from Philadephia Luthier Tools and Supplies. I bought the set I have from them and they came pretty quickly. https://www.philadelphialuthiertools.com/guitar-tuning-machines/ (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page)

I have used them on several guitars and they are great! Very smooth. Only visible difference vs. the V model is the washer on the top side. Much easier install.

Update: I just finished a guitar with these tuners and they are really nice!

Nice fit and finish, incredibly smooth and tight.

Easy to install.

For $98. (gold plate) they are a great deal.

The nickel ones are around $75.

The only little thing that could be a little nicer is the washers are kind of plain-would have been better with a bevel on it.

I will post a photo of the finished guitar in a new thread....
