Hey Folks

I am wondering if any of you have built with Ambrosia Maple. As you know it has serious wormholes that give it the unique staining and character. What do you fill those holes with. Do you fill before or after bending? Has anyone done something different and creative with the holes. I have been thinking of filling with a contrasting coloured resin rather than trying to hide them, make them a focus. Got any advice?

Thanks

fred

Some years ago, John Arnold posted photos of a guitar he built with ambrosia maple back and sides in this thread: https://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=34145&p=449889&hilit=ambrosia+maple#p449889

He said he filled the holes with black epoxy after bending the sides.

You can also use a colored resin. That would look cool.

Or clear resin and a ground stone (contrasting), or glitter colour.
