My daughter ran a ukulele building camp in early August for girls 10-13. Stew Mac donated kits and tools, and they sent a film crew for the last couple of days of the week. I spent a day fitting necks and fooling around, and these girls were a load of fun and so intensely interested I was truly inspired:

I watched this earlier today. Mamie is the bomb! That was really a cool thing for her and Chloe to do for the girls. I just watched it again and it made me as happy as watching the first time! Thanks Ed!

That's fantastic! What a great experience for those kids. Nicely shot video too. But hey, where's the Brooklyn accent? :D

The ukulele camp looks like it was a big hit. Having a group that are all into it and with a great instructor is a recipe for success. If Mamie gets burned out on lutherie she might try teaching.
I did a dulcimer building class with my sons' boy scout troop many moons ago. Some of the kids built nice instruments and some were DNF (about 50/50). That was a group with mixed levels of interest in the project starting out, so they got out of it what they put into it. A more inspiring teacher might have done better, but I wasn't too unhappy with the results.
