^^^ Ditto. I just finished this one, nitro on the neck and binding, nothing on the f/b. After all the sanding I scraped the purfling and it popped out nice and bright.

I hope you don't mind my occasional annoying thoughts on guitar building... Will white purfling lines on the edge of a fingerboard get soiled? Is it better to use plastic to keep them clean? |

An old Washburn guitar had white purfling lines on an ebony board. They do get somewhat soiled but still standout enough to be a design element. |

Oiling it when it's new helps to fill up the wood grain so the dirt stays just on the surface, and cleans off better. If you're doing pure white, plastic is better than fiber since it's non-porous to begin with. |
