I really like the style of your guitars. Gorgeous work, very nice top, cool inlays, and the finish certainly looks a good deal more than "passable" from here.

Hi Dennis,

It's a wedge body. The lower bout is about 4-1/2" away from the player and about 3-3/4" on the player side. My OM wedge is about 3/4" side to side, my Mod-dread is a little more and my 00 is a little less. The body is about 3-3/8" at the neck.

Cool, sounds like you have done a lot of wedges! I really like the idea and have done it once on an OM. 1 inch difference side to side. And started a thread about it a while ago. It was hard to understand what was happening, but somebody finally drew a picture for me and I think I finally understand what was happening.

Have you had any issues, or have you had to change anything for the bindings on a wedge body? It seems like the less side to side difference would be less of the effect.

A lot of Somogyi design element in your guitar. Did you apprentice under him?

Pat,

I'd say the hardest part is getting the binding around the cutaway on the back side. The bindings wants to tip away from the side requiring a bit of massaging. I don't think I'd be able to do it if it wasn't for CA and accelerator. I'm basically able to tack the binding in place as I work my way around towards the neck then floor the bindings with CA after I've got the bindings where I want them.

Hahaha - I wish!

I did attend his voicing class in 2012 and got to meet several of his current batch. I think the biggest takeaway from that experience was to see just how lightly you can build a guitar and have the guitar hold together just fine. I still use stuff I learned from Somogyi on every build but I'll say the Gore/Gillette books have way more useful info in them and Trevor takes the time to explain things if asked (Thanks!). The hardest part for me regarding the Gore books was getting through the first half of book one.... Thankfully they explain what you just learned at the end of each section.

Incredibly tasteful my friend! Does it have a home?

I had a nice chat with Ervin Somoni at the Vancouver show. He even did a little guru demonstration for me. Hearing one of his guitars was enough to make me want to French Polish a top. Maybe........... Probably not. I'm too lazy. But I want to! :lol:

Nope, not spoken for yet. We are headed to SAM camp this afternoon and it may disappear there.

Ervin is a very interesting guy to talk to. It was fun sitting around his shop drinking beers after class.
