I noticed that General Finishes has a new (to me at least) sanding sealer product specifically for water based finishes. Has anyone used it, or see any benefit to using it, under Enduro?

Their website has instructions on how to use this product. https://generalfinishes.com/wood-finish ... ing-sealer

Oddly, it says not to use it under Enduro-Var?

"Sanding Sealer is not recommended as a final finish because it is not as durable as a topcoat. Seal Sanding Sealer with any General Finishes water-based topcoat, EXCEPT General Finishes Enduro-Var, for improved water and chemical resistance."

I have used both GF sanding sealer and EnduroVar. The sanding sealer is like other sanding sealers I have used. Because it's WB based, there will be some grain raising. I sprayed it on some kitchen cabinet doors I made, knocked the fuzzies down with 320 and sprayed WB poly over it. No issues.

GF is very adamant about EnduroVar being applied over bare wood and nothing else. I have sprayed it over water-dyed wood on mahogany and sapele w/o issue. A few months ago I did a sample by brushing EV over Minwax whitewashed pine, sealed with GF sanding sealer. I just checked it and didn't see any problems with adhesion.
