Not exactly easy but relatively fast. Interesting stuff. Turns out that CA will burn into itself. The first coat over the Seal-Lac spread easy and smooth with regular glu-boost. Subsequent coats however dried nearly instantly, leaving some pretty heinous ridges. Turns out CA is a great accelerator for CA. I found the best was to put additional coats on with ultra thin Ca like a FP, using a paper towel pfad. Maybe 10 seconds open time at best. In the end, there's enough finish on to actually buff it methinks, I'll try that later. I'd be doing a lot more tests before approaching an instrument with this...

Nice! What is the wood and where did you pick up the CA?

Ovangkol, and you get glu-boost through Peggy White.

I was reading up on the Bourgeois finish for the torrefied tops, and apparently it's some sort of cyanoacrylate. I'm pretty sure Kevin Ryan does some sort of CA finish as well.

Wouldn't it be interesting if you could do a full finish in a day?

I used gluboost finish CA to pore fill on a few ukuleles. I sort of polish it on with a paper towel. Do not use a cotton rag. I use a razor blade after it cures to take most of it off. I did once refinish a headstock veneer completely in the finishing CA when I needed to go from wood to buffed finish in one day. I have not used it on a guitar for pore because of the fumes and it was hard to polish it on a large area within the open time. I sure it is possible but it was an ugly enough that I use other methods for a guitar.

Very interesting Ed. I would really like to see where this takes you.

I did a test panel with CA as a pore filler on bare walnut, followed by Royal Lac cat. I have to dig it out and see how it is faring.

I have used it as a pore filler and loved the results, but gave up because of the fumes. I tried fans, goggles, etc but my eyes watered non stop. I wish I could have handled it cause it was easy and worked well.

Were you wearing your paint respirator? I can't even drop fill the stuff without it...

I've noticed that some paper towels seem to act like an accelerator for CA. When wiping CA drips off the outside of the bottle I've had them instantly stick. Q tips also seem to instantly set it off too. Maybe you could try smearing it around with a plastic bag.

I tried it on a guitar a while ago. It did work but I felt like I needed a jackhammer to cut it back after it dries

You bet. It didn’t bother me much anywhere but my eyes. Burned and watered. Gave up.

Yeah, it has its drawbacks.
