Or sometimes just the blood :D

The chisel did slip but I am pretty good about keeping the soft parts upstream of the chisel stroke so it was not that. When it slipped I 'punched' the center of the X-Brace right on the knuckle and it just split right open.

Doh!

Now the question is, will this give the guitar some blood magic mojo? Hmmmmm

Yes! Always leave a little blood. It shows your commitment. :)

I haven't bled on a guitar yet... what's wrong with you people!! :)

I did have "condensate" drip out of my dust mask onto a raw neck yesterday -does that count?

Yes a little blood on the inside shows commitment, but only a little. You have to have the discipline to stop working and apply the Mand-Aid* to keep the work clean.

*Mand-Aids come in several forms; mine are usually a hunk of paper towel (sometimes clean, sometimes just from the one on the bench used for cleaning up glue) and as many wraps of masking or binding tape as it takes to hold it on.

A different big three, one of which is blood:

I don't leave blood on the guitars I am building, but I did manage to stain the unfinished wooden handle of one of my LN chisels with the blood drawn by that chisel. I keep it that way as a reminder.

Just as a reminder to the uninitiated....

Blood is massively corrosive to steel.... It will "blood pit" most types of steel incredibly fast.... Scrub it off your tools wih hot soapy water, dry, and oil afterwards... It will still probably etch it a bit.....

Interesting I had no idea it was corrosive to steel.
