Are any of the olf ers using doug fir for back bracing I/ve acquired some of it . I have 2 kinds old growth fir with about 24 lines per inch and some fast growing stock with about7 lines per inch wide sapwood with darker orangey heartwood . The older growth fir is red seems very hard light and stiff the newer stock is still hard but not as stiff , or light, as the old growth.. I am wanting to use the fir on very hard uke/small guitar backs e.g. purpleheart, eir. honduras rosewood, osage orange, shedua ovangkol etc . Would you mind sharing your opinions pro and con . I also have engelemann spruce . lutz . and sitka brace stock. Thank you . Your opinions and experiences are much appreciated |

Fir would be fine for back braces and I use it all the time |

I've used it before. DF has a history of splitting in other applications though. |
