I have a shop helper and I bet many of you do too. This is Mitzi. She loves being in the shop with me, although she can be a pest sometimes... |

This is Gatsby, our French Bulldog. He's the Tom Hanks of doggie day care; everybody loves Gatsby. Attachment: Gatsby.JPG He is mostly a good dog about being in the shop, but the occasional offcut of a good smelling piece of wood becomes too tempting. He grabs it and runs off, knowing he's not supposed to have it. He gets really attentive when I work with hot hide glue, too. |

Cassidy is my shop helper. Her main job is to tell me when it's time to take a break to play ball or tug. Attachment: Shop dog.jpg

Quote: This is Gatsby, our French Bulldog. Ah, a Frenchie. I was raised with Frenchies in the house (long before anyone had heard of them or Martha Stewart), so they are close to my heart. Good natured, lovable and loving clowns of the dog world. Not a Tom Hanks fan, however. |

I found a mummified mouse in one of the old pasteboard cases in the back storage room...does that count? But seriously, I have been lobbying for a shop cat (I live with two, but neither travels well) to address the usual migration of field mice from field to shop in the fall. |

Woodie, perhaps you shouldn't limit your search to a cat. I had a black snake who would try to sneak in each Fall. |

Here's my little apprentice Koa helping me set up for a photo shoot. She's since passed and is greatly missed. My shop is now a seperate building and so my other apprentice doesn't come to help any more. But I've thought about carrying her in once in a while. Indoor cats only. A couple weeks ago I was walking out to my shop and felt a presence. Some neighborhood cat I'd never seen before just followed me right in and made herself at home purring and rubbing herself all over everything. She was so friendly. Have not seen her since. |

Oh, I think that look says: "He's put me on the bench, tied a bandana around my neck, and put safety glasses on me AGAIN. I guess I'll just have to rub my junk all over his pillow." |

Not really much help in the shop, more like security. No one gets in without proper ID. B |

The first picture shows Ripley the Labradoodle. She was my shop helper and pal for 13 years. After she passed away (peacefully and painlessly) in January of 2017, my spouse and I couldn't think of getting another dog for a while. In August we got Hendrix the Poodle pup (about 4 months old in the photo). He was helping me take a picture of a new build by scampering around. He's getting steadier and calmer as he grows up. Of course he won't replace Ripley, but he's making his own place in our hearts. Attachment: RIpley with guitar.JPG Attachment: Hendrix the dog with guitar.jpg
