I've been thinking about doing my first arm bevel on the next build. I was going to use EIR binding. I have some EIR veneer that is 0.020" thick. Is this thick enough? It is quite brittle... |

I think it all depends on your method of doing a bevel. If the veneering is one of the last steps in the process you could pull it off. I like to do the purfs and binding after installing the veneer so I like a little meat to tweak all the intersecting planes to where they look best. I start out with .060 or so and dress a little off until it conforms to the curve with minimal effort. Glue and tape in position, then reroute for purfs and binding in that area. I'm curious as to what others do. Ken |

I just did a couple making my own veneer to match the bindings. I did them both at 1.0mm thick. One was in Gidgee and so brittle that you wouldn't wish it on anyone. Took a couple of pieces to get it to work. The one yesterday wasy super curly Australian Blackwood and it was so easy I thought I might have done something wrong. |
