Post subject: | Tonewood Survey Student Project |
I have a writing project I’m doing this weekend and I would like to ask for input from builders who are more experienced than I am. This survey is short, all answers are optional, and any input you can offer would be much appreciated. I realize the overall construction of the guitar will affect the tone more than any of the exact woods used, but my interest is to get a very rough idea of the qualities of each tonewood. I’m not interested in scientific explanations as much as general feel of the sound it can produce or the overall “character” of the wood. This is a Marketing project, it’s not a Scientific one—and besides none of this is an exact science anyway…Also, if you have suggestions for adding to the survey let me know. I have a feeling I’m missing some good adjectives. Thanks! - MD Here’s the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MBJTLQ9 PS - If you prefer to reply in this thread as opposed to the survey that is perfectly fine. I’m essentially requesting your opinion on the sound & workability of any of the following woods. If you are pressed for time even a couple words on a few of these would help. I truly appreciate it! - Sitka Spruce - Lutz Spruce - Engelmann Spruce - European Spruce - Adirondack Red Spruce - Western Red Cedar - East Indian Rosewood - Honduran Mahogany - Koa - American Cherry - Black Walnut - Big Leaf / Birdseye Maple - Granadillo - Ovangkol - African Ebony - Sapele - Cocobolo Rosewood - Macassar Ebony |
