OM with Malaysian Blackwood, Adirondack, curly Koa, evo, coyote.

Sounds like a piano, I'm satisfied. My building theory was, "a little more beef". Standard bracing layout with an mpmte. Thanks to John Parchem for advice on the 6pin12 design.

I have always done my necks with chisels, spokeshave and knives. This time I added draw knife and dragon rasp, very pleased.

It was nice to have so much freedom on this one. 12 strings + coyote + Builders Choice. The 510's are very nice although all that writing on the back looks cheap. I think it would have served them better to just have a trademark symbol something like the Montblanc star. Of course I didn't plan my peghead well and I have some strings touching. But, it works just fine. Live and learn...

If it sounds as good as it looks then you have a winner! I would not worry about strings touching around the tuner posts but you do need to secure those tuners with a screw in the back

I used to use chisels and knives for the heal and the peg head where it meets the shaft till I discovered Dragon Rasps too. I have to admit a bit of snobbery on this one actually, I always thought rasps were crude tools for those who don't know how to use finer wood working tools and then I read about hand stitched rasps and thought hmmm maybe I should try it. One of those things I could kick myself for not discovering earlier. It's like anything a cheap tool, in my case experience with cheap rasps, versus the real deal is like night and day.

For the neck shaft I still use a spoke shave though, I've yet to find a better tool for that.

Looks great! Love the coyote moon rising above the headstock. And the flamed binding is always a welcome piece of natural bling, in my book.

My wife may allow one more guitar in the house if it's a 12er. Got me thinking, which is always a dangerous thing.....

Thanks for the encouraging words everybody! I don't have the guitar now, but the bridge is just a 1x6 and nut and saddle are African Blackwood. The Finish is only two coats of Tru oil. Yeah, I love pores! I'm going to put some more on when it comes back for a set up. Neck and back strap are Honduran mahogany.
Agreed on the nice rasps! The draw knife handily removes the bulk in seconds.

Thanks Hanns! It's actually a short scale. 24.9. I think the string courses matching the wide grain pattern making it look longer. And lack of pdots also.


Yes, just beefier. Maybe like an Antes plan? With the addition of one more brace behind the plate.

Nice work!! I like Tru oil myself, My last build I used Aqua Coat for filler. It is really an easy pore filler to use. With the Tru Oil finish, it has become my favourite finish. I think I still will French Polish the tops,

Think it's more camera optics, Pat. Nut is a lot closer to the lens than the saddle...

Wow, Aqua Coat sounds promising! Is anyone else using this?

Yes, both the neck shaft and fingerboard are slightly thicker than normal and there are also two carbon fiber rods. After string up, there was just a skosh of relief.

Mario P. Magic tone enhancer. I thought that was a known thing! It's a brace right behind the bridge plate, and if I remember right, he would make it but not install it and then decide later to put it in or not.
