I bought a new laguna Bandsaw, but it seems to me the table top is warped . I sent them this picture... Attachment: Table after leveling bolt adjusted.jpg The light under the square at number 35 shows how uneven the top is on either side of the slot where the saw blade is slipped in. There's a leveling screw at the outer edge of the table that is to be used to bring the two side level if there's any deviation. I have cranked that screw down as far as i dare and the picture is after the adjustment. In the following picture, the square was set up across the blade slot just to the right of the throat plate. You can see the shiny spot at the end of the blade slot where a bolt sits to bring the two sides level. Attachment: laguna shot.jpg That gap stops a piece of wood dead when sliding it forward. What the sevice guy suggested is to adjust the plate that the trunions sit on. Those adjustments are basically used to square the blade to the table top. I really can't imagine that there's enough force there to alter the table top through the trunions. Seeing the the entire back table is flat where the fence sits, adjusting the screws on the mounting plate would have to put some wicked stress on the top to bring it in line... but i am not an engineer. Anyone familiar with this type of adjustment and could it really work? I am a bit hesitant to mess with them since the less adjustments i have to do the better my simple mind can deal with it. I was impressed that i was able to make it through the adjustments and able to get everything nice and set up with my first try (other than this one issue). Should i tell them they are crazy or might he actually be making some sense? I did send the above picture and a short video of a piece of wood stopping at the blade slot. Hope I am explaining it correctly as this is my first bandsaw and i could be describing it badly. Thanks for your thoughts. Rob |

I would demand a new table. Years ago I purchased a Po*ermatic shaper. The top was warped as well as the spindle was not square to the table. I demanded a full refund and was given one. Back in the golden age of cast iron American made machinery the castings after being cast and cooled would be left to cure for months maybe a year before being milled. Those days are long gone. Now there are “the better modern methods. “ Sorry about that. Buy or make a phase converter. Buy some old machinery (almost always three phase.). I hate to sound fatalistic but I’ve bought and owned enough of the modern and old machinery and seen this too many times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There's no alignment pin in the side (see photo)? If it stops a piece of wood, that's not acceptable. If it's new, they need to make it right, sorry. Kevin Looker |

Yeah there is an alignment pin/bolt. Funny, when i took this picture from the side, the difference really shows. In this picture, the bolt is loosened all the way, so the table is in it's natural state. I don't think any adjustment from underneath that's not directly attached to the table is going to fix this. Thanks for prompting me to take another look! emailing Laguna now. *sigh* |

Nice that they're taking care of you. I'd suggest loosening all the bolts connected to the table to make sure that the table isn't being forced into a warped position by a misalignment of the trunnion or the mounting plate. The table could be forced out of flat rather than just warping. cheers. |

Unfortunately, there have been a lot of complaints about Laguna and their customer service lately. Glad you got a satisfactory response. I gather that is increasingly rare. |

It's just resting in place, no stress. |
