Well this is build 4 1/2
It is 4 1/2 because build 4 was halted because of a foolish critical error.

My thought here is a responsive OM geared toward finger style w a 1 7/8 nut. It is maple and spruce with ebony binding.
The rosette is very mild with 2 contrasting maples surrounded by bwb (the same as will be on the top and back purfling.

Will post pics as I progress (or screw up whichever comes first haha)

Off to a good start. It'll be cool to see the rosette under finish.

I’m hoping it isn’t too mild. Normally I like a little more contrast w the top.

I think it is going to a nice looking build. What are your thoughts on binding?

Looking great Snow!

I always loved carving braces and found it to be very relaxing.

Very nice. I understand the dilemma about having to jettison a build. I had to do that myself earlier this year. It just kept going from bad to worse. At some point - you have to cut the rope.

The beauty of ebony binding is, that if well done, it looks just like black plastic! beehive

I did a guitar in ebony once. Now I use black plastic. It doesn't have the coolness factor but it is a lot easier to install, and a bit tougher.

If you use black ebony for binding you can install it in two 1/2 thickness pieces. It makes bending it so much easier! When it is sanded and finished the glue line is unnoticeable.

Just a tip Snow Man, next time don't notch the braces, notch the center strip...
Lots of folks don't care much for the popsicle stick on the top, but it works well.
Hope it all works out for you!

Here are a few updates. I... again.... had a few major issues, however I managed to repair my own issues and won’t mention them in detail.
I got the binding and purfling installed, a few gaps filled and the top and back sanded. The sides still need a little tlc w some paper.
