My chui- ting taiwanese 2hp rated 12.5-18 amp switch has died it seems .It/s 35 yrs old. Looking for suggestions on where to purchase a replacement , amazon has some 3hp 18-26 amp switches but not sure because the amperage has a higher rating, mine has a 220 v 2 hp single phase baldor motor. Suggestions ??? thank you

Any electrical wholesaler should be able to help you out. There are probably a bunch nearby.
Also grizzly tools sells replacement switches.

You will be fine oversizing a switch, just not undersizing it. I agree, though, that your best bet to get one that fits the same specs (and the same hole the old switch came out of), is to bring the old switch to your local wholesalers. Amazon may have what you need, but unless you are able to determine whether you're buying a single-pole, double throw or a double-pole, single throw, for example, you could be setting yourself up for disappointment or danger.

I sprayed some old R shack contact cleaner on the switch , and it fired up again. Soo thanks for the suggestion . I bought that jointer used from a house reno in Van in 1987 , it still runs well. I will try and find a local supplier, the configuration and wiring on the box is from the original taiwanese mfg. co . We have grizz here in spgfld mo but I/m very leery of some of their offerings I checked e-vil bay an amazon , The sizes have to match up with the current box , otherwise there will be a lot of fiddling and mods .Thank you both for your comments. PS miss the okanogan spent our honeymoon there in 19 85 cheers ernie.
