Looks great! I love the basic wood ring rosettes.
Are the bridge pins handmade / oversized or does it just look that way because the bridge is narrow? Maybe an optical illusion in the pic?

I've actually had some successes lately other than hurling guitar bodies off my bench (as in a previous post). Here is a L-00 12 fret in ishpingo and sitka. I am very pleased with how this one turned out. My initial thought was to make a guitar that would be more comfortable for someone smaller and with small hands, a child or female. I took the plans I had for a 14 fret and shifted the bracing (and bridge patch of course) to accommodate a 12 fret. I made the body about 1/4" deeper. The result of the shifted bridge and deeper body was more low end. It is less "mid-focused" than the 14 fret I built. It is nicely responsive to fingerpicking but has a nice snap strummed. I went very basic and unadorned, other than the backstrap (rosewood) which I tend to like to do. I had bought the ishingo at a very reasonable price from someone on the OLF and thought I'd go ahead and use it. It worked very nicely, has a nice luster (Chatoyance?), and sounds good. Ishpingo is from Peru. From LMI's website... Ishpingo is a stunning wood from Peru that is virtually unknown in the lutherie community, but passed all our tests for stability - and it bent easily, despite it's dramatic grain. Most importantly, it is light weight and has a round, present tap tone that, while similar to Mahogany, exceeds it in volume, crispness and complexity. All sets feature deep, three dimensional ribbon figure. The color lands somewhere between gold and light amber. It is porous, but treated with the proper fillers (try our new Chemcraft fillers) and a high gloss finish you can expect a surface of great depth and chatoyance. The icing on the cake with this fine wood is that is harvested with great care for the species, it's environment and the Peruvian communities that helped bring it to market. Very nice guitar! Love the wood choices. I made a triple 0 14 fret body with a 12 fret neck (ladder braced) and it turned out nicely. similar concept. |

Thanks Brad. Those are standard size LMI rosewood bridge pins... The bridge is 1" wide. |
