Greetings, I have a 24 X 17 Laguna Bandsaw. It is an older model. Bought it used several years ago. I have moved it three times in the past year and a half. Now permanently located and need to get "The Big Laguna" back into tiptop working condition. No manual. As far as Laguna is concerned, no manual. Does anyone in the group have an old manual for the larger Laguna saws. Hint. the trunnion on this saw is held tight by a large bolt. Newer models have the ratchet set up. Help if you can. Sorry this is not about building, but I can't build until the shop is set up and the bandsaw is my all time favorite stationary tool. Thanks Ken

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Sounds like the ACM Star / SNA 600 from what you describe
Their is other brands that use this frame also
Griggio, Agazzani , I think Felder used to along with Laguna, and a few others.
I have a pic I took from from the web some time ago.
Bolt casting was snapped on mine when I got it ,
It had a clamp holding it on when I got it so I made a bracket to keep it from dropping.
Does not lock as good as I hoped though

I presume it is this machine ?

Whattdya you need to find out?
Mine is a 1997 vintage
I have not found a manual for it anywhere, only machine specs.
I use 4580mm blades on it
I have got new bearings on it (not needed though)
I have bought a tire for it that probably will be suitable ...I'll have to see yet
My saw had a fall at some stage and things aren't quite right
I had to do work on the upper wheel bracket because of this
Maybe the new tire will fix things though

Thanks everyone for your information. I called Brian Bennett and he was able to give me help. I lined up the table top and squared it front to back, side to side and diagonally. I then squared it with the blade. It was off a little bit, so I did what I had to do and tilted the table every so slightly to make a true 90 degrees. It has never cut so good and so true. Cutting extremely thin veneer is not a problem. Eventually, I will buy a ratchet type trunnion from Laguna that does fit my model. But that is in the future when my ship comes in.
