Here is one of the latest ladder braced guitars I made. It Is my Grand Concert size-14-1/2" at the lower bout, 4-1/2" deep. at the tail 4-1/4" at the heel.

The back and sides are quarter sawn white oak , Adi top ,ebony fretboard and bridge, Honduran mahogany one piece neck. Ivoroid bindings. Stew Mac Golden Age tuners. 25.4 scale. fretboard and head inlays from Andy Depaule.

A special thanks to Haans Brentrup for making the gorgeous purfling, It really "made" the guitar..

As far as the sound goes...I really love it Great definition/separation and when you strum it doesn't get "muddy".

As far as the Oak goes... To me it has the look of the most "exotic" tonewood at any price. This set cost around $25.
(I resawed it myself)

That is a stunning instrument, Brad! Really beautiful. I love the figured oak. How did you color it?

Hi Charlie, I applied the stain directly to the wood after I taped off all the pufling and binding. I used the concentrated liquid dye(trans tint) in alchohol. I did three coats all slightly different colors.

Lovely! QS white oak is my favourite cabinet wood, and it looks great for a guitar. Well done, Brad!

Dang right Hans is proud!
Way to go Brad! Drop me your email address, could you? Don't much like PM"s. Just send it to johann@brentrup.com
Note the "clarity" vs "muddy". It's true. Also evenness across the strings, more than boomy bass and sparkly trebles. You actually get midrange...
Love to hear you play a tune on it, but s'pose your waiting for it to break in a bit.

That's quite a beauty! I can't wait to start building oak parlor's again. Lovely stuff. I resaw it myself to, wood is free :D

The inlay on that guitar is quite complex and beautiful.

Brad, always great to see pictures of your excellent work. I haven't been around as of late -- didn't you previously post new builds appropriately dressed in suit and tie? :-). Quality of build remains -- posting standards obviously on the slide.

All kidding aside - I love the top purfling and the backstrip.....beautifully and tastefully done.
