I just had Andy Birko make me a neck for an oak, 12 fret ladder braced small jumbo in the shape of a Gibson J-185 - 16" lower bout. The white oak is from the Spessart Forest of central Germany and was grown on a plantation. It has 35-40 grain lines per inch and is lighter in weight than the Honduras mahogany used for many necks. The neck is beautiful:

I believe Mr. Birko does Mesquite fretboards too.
Mesquite makes a nice fretboard.

Andy spent a good portion of his life, still does too I believe, working with brain surgeons and as such he has to be a very detail oriented guy.

He made us some fret boards and they are superb in all respects. We also have calibrated long calipers accurate to .001" and we measured every fret for a study that Dave is doing and they were all spot on too. Amazing quality from Andy!

He is also doing some repairs now too and of the school that learning the repair side a better builder makes as Rick Turner always said. I expect to see great things from Andy!
