I've asked this on a fe other forums, but it wouldn't hurt to ask here, too. My next build (a 12-fret OOO) was going to have some JJB Prestige 330 pickups, which I've used with success on other builds. When I went to their site, I noticed that they have a new product called the SHC-200, which seems to be a 330 with passive tone and volume controls that require no battery. They also offer a retrofit kit that converts the 330 into the 200. My question: Does anybody have any experience with using the 200? If so, what were your impressions about how the system worked for you. Did the controls seem to be worth the extra money? And for those who have installed the retrofit kit, did you notice any degradation in the performance of the transducers? I should add that I usually run the 330 through either a Baggs Para Acoustic or a K&K Pure Mini XLR, but would like to take that box out of the system if I can, to simplify using the house sound system at the open mikes I go to. |

I did buy that unit and install it on a parlor guitar I built. Everything worked as advertised. I'm happy with the product. And I like that it's a passive system... no batteries to worry about. I haven't felt the need at this point for additional controls, since what the guitar doesn't have on-board I can control with the head of the combo amp I use. |

It looks like the SHC-200 isn't available anymore. There is a similar one that has just volume control, though. If anybody besides JJB offers one with volume and tone, I'd like to know about it. |
