A friend of mine has a couple of back and side sets he brought back from Argentina for sale, he tells me it bends very well and is quite easy to work. I'm very tempted to buy them but I know nothing of this wood. Anyone used it?
I'd never heard of it before and have not seen it for sale anywhere in europe.

Argentinian Guayubira (latin name is Campomanesia xanthocarpa) from what I've seen it's used for flooring mostly. Apparently it's part of the Myrtle family. Pretty dense, at 0.8g per cm3

He tells me he has built with it before an recommends it highly. Anyone have any experience with this wood? I'd be interested to learn more about this stuff.

I'm currently building my first classic with Guayubira. I'm Argentinian.

I left the sides about 12 hs in water, and mount them straight into my side forming. There was no need for heat.

I have mixed feelings about telling an european how much i love that wood, because if Guayubira becomes popular in Europe the prices will go up in Argentina.
