Sorry about the iPhone screen grab. I forgot to fix that before I posted.

Haha! I knew someone was going to say that! All charged up!

I had to call and double check the price. It's part of the Monthly Luthier's Special. There were a few sets left, though not quite as nice as this one. Everything I've bought from Hibdon has been top notch, to go along with the customer service.

Mother of God! 11%?!? I would be having a stroke if my phone was that low and I was out of the house!
That's nice wood, too.

I just received the anigre set I ordered from Hibdon. Some very slight imperfections but still very nice, and just $45 + $19 shipping/handling. I always like dealing with Hibdon and this transaction has been no exception.

I have only bent easy woods (EIR, walnut) and I'm putting this set aside for a long time--years, probably. Todd Stock has often posted about anigre; I just looked through 6 pages of his postings reading his recommendations for bending it, which I have printed out and will store with this set. For anyone else who might want to do this, the gist of it seems to be:

"...Bending anigre ranges from OK to really, really miserable. SuperSoft II is your friend. Bend hotter, dryer, and faster...start as the wood goes through 260 and try to be done by 320 and the last of the water going. Light colored wood, so the usual precautions apply.

"...the the reason why a second heat [i.e., second period of heating in the bender] seems to work is a high initial temp and a long cookout. I have increased my max temps to 330-340, and now dry at 290-300 for 30-40 minutes, then go stone cold. this was the only way to get net shape bends in curly anigre."

Thanks, Todd!

:(

Just called them and they don't have any of that in the thickness I need for my electrics.

That tight, even figure sure is nice.
