Hello friends
want to know has anyone used african black wood and mopane for back and sides
how difficult it is to bend and how they sounds.
planing to buy so need ur honest advice as they are very costly..

I played one of Lance Ks' gitars, a big somethin or other a few years ago in Montreal & it was definitely the loudest with a very long sustain, that I ever heard, soooo... I bought a set. Not ready to use it yet.

instead of ABW can i use indian ebony for back and sides.
ABW is very costly so changed the plan
is 4 pc back set worth of $250???

What is it you're trying to achieve? Are you simply focused on a very dark colored wood? Are you looking for a specific sound?

African Blackwood and African Ebony aren't the same thing. Caveat: I haven't worked with either of them for back and sides, but my understanding of ebony is that the damping is relatively high compared to rosewoods, other. African Blackwood is extremely hard and stiff - my guess is the damping is very low.... loud, long sustain....not the same at all.

Wenge is dark and a lot cheaper but the pores take some major filling. Prepare for some splinter pulling as well if you use it.
