GLS is George Lucus Special. Paraphrasing George; "You don't finish a project, you walk away."
This was my second build, first scratch build. OK I chickened out at last minute on using my bridge. My slot was messy. So, I used a nice prepped Brazilian Rosewood Pyramid bridge I had on the shelf.
The Sycamore was rescued from a burn pile 3 years ago, Adi Top, Rock Maple neck - the profile is real fat for now, Kluson Tuners given to me by a friend that reps the company.
The first build took 51 weeks, this one 28 weeks including a much improved French Polish on this one. Still not what I would tout as pro, but much improved.
Right now I have the saddle and nut sitting very high. String spacing is to be determined. She plays nice. Great depth in tone with quick decay.
I am pleased over all. I can do a list 2 pages long on what I would do different or better. Including to NOT drive a Putty Knife through the sides :) But, the experience taught me to see the list.
What next? #3 is half finished and sold - A Mahogany/Lutz Dred, Florentine Cutaway (that part is done!), Dred. I chickened out and bought the neck from LMI. I wanted a nice Volute and didn't feel I could pull it off.
I am starting selections for #4 - a Indian Rosewood and ? Tenor Guitar. I am getting both sets of plans from Elderly. Any other advise on Tenors is welcome.
Soooooooooooooooooo hooked! See ya at A.S.I.A!

I chickened out on the Cutaway and 12 fret in the orig. concept.

Nice, John!!

Congratulations! Really nice finish - especially for a french polish. Love the sycamore.

Looks Great [:Y:]
Beautiful color combination, I'm going to have to try
Sycamore, I like using USA sourced woods.

Looking good John. What does she sound like? How thick is your top? (curious how thick with the carving for the soundhole).

What's going on with the fret spacing near the 19th and 20th fret?

I thought it was to the plan for 24.75. I'll remeasure.

Hi, .125 at its thickest. Where I did my texture I supported it behind with a series of biscuits.
Tone sounds good. Really good. I have the Nut and Saddle real high till she settles a week or so. It has a deep treble with a weaker bass. Some sustain with quick decay. I play a finger slide version of "Over the Rainbow". This may be my favorite guitar for that tune. Hotel California sounds very cool :D
