will a 15 1/2" total length truss rod work with a 12 fret 24.9" scale length neck?

13" or 14 1/4" depending on where and how you place the adjustment nut

There are a number of different truss rods out there . On the new 2 way truss rods you want the truss rod to be just on the neck and not more than 3/4 inch longer. On the older Martin 1 way rods there used to stick out as far as the truss rod.
