I am building my first guitar and have bought the plans for the OOO from Stew Mac. I want the fretboard radius to be the same as the Martin OOO-EC that I recently played. When I looked up the specifications on the OOO-EC I have not been able to locate the fretboard radius that was used on that giutar. Therefore, I would appreciate someone telling me or directing me to where I can find the fretboard radius for that particular guitar.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Chuck

Martins are usually 15 or16 inch radius (unless its an really old flat one) .. John Hall likely knows for sure ...

More than the radius though .. you will want to know the neck depths and shape profile

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the OOO-EC is a 14 fret (OM body). The OOO StewMac plans are the 12 fret body which is longer than the OM/14fOOO.

Yes, the Martin 000-EC guitars are 14 fret to the body, OM sized, with a short scale (24.9") modified V neck profile.

HTH,

Chris.

the 000-EC is a 000-28 and has a 24.9 scale . The radius is 16" . The OM is newer than the 000 and while the out side profile is the same that is where it stops . The 0M is a long scale so the neck is longer and the sound hole would be at a different postion as would the bridge. Below is a link to Martin and the spec sheet

Great link John.

Take note that the other big difference in the two styles is that the OOO28-EC has 5/16" scalloped bracing where the OM would have 1/4".
It sounds like a fun project. Keep us posted in your progress.

Chuck,

Zach is correct. Common confusion comes from the 000 being used to describe two altogether different designs. It applies to both the longer-bodied 12-fret 000, which is what the 000 SM drawings are for, and to the the 14-fret 000, which is the design the EC is based on. Of the SM drawings, the OM would be closer to what you need, but with the differences noted by John, Chris and Dave as to scale and neck length, soundhole location and bracing.

Pat
