A little early, but I was wondering who was planning on attending or exhibiting at the 2008 GAL Convention. Should this thread be in the 'Off Topic' area? Is it worth the registration fee for attending (not exhibiting)?

Since I can drive up to Tacoma from San Jose, I can actually attend the GAL Convention in June...yipee!! bliss

I have signed up already and will be bringing along my woodworking buddy Bill, who is interested in making guitars also. [:Y:]

This will be my first GAL convention. 8-) I have been told that one should make it to this event at all costs - it's the one not to miss.

The cost is the same if you are exhibiting or not (unless you're selling stuff at the convention).

I will be there with bells on, I will be the one with the bells. ;)
Actually I am really looking forward to seeing the folks I hung out with at
the last one and meeting new people as well. Since I only repair and don't build
having a table with a bunch of broken guitars may be a bit too depressing.
Best, Evan

I'll second that. laughing6-hehe Still trying to get all this finish off the stupid bass...

But yeah... I'm going to have to definitely see if I can get myself there. Sounds like one hell of an event.

Evan, the idea of seeing you actually wearing bells is a very funny thought.

Anyway, I'll be there. Wouldn't miss it. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Aspiring luthiers who don't go to this are utterly insane, in my opinion.

If I can finish an instrument I'm working on right now in time, which I am working hard to accomplish, I'll be exhibiting.

See y'all there! Looking forward to it!

Great, can't wait to see you guys. I would love to see your guitar Todd. Steve
I owe you a Diet Coke from the last one. Michael I thought of a unique way to take the
finish off the Ibanez. Drive to the convention with the bass tied to the back of the car.
By Ohio I am sure it will be unfinished :D
Lex my wife and i spent our honeymoon doing the Pacific Northwest, it was awesome!
Best, Evan

I sure hope to attend for as much as possible. Travel won't be an issue as I'm only 5 or 6 miles from PLU (which is where my wife received her Masters degree) - but unfortunately I don't know about work. I guess I could put in for the time now. I am glad to hear that there are a few OLF folks are attending - sounds like a great event.

That was two years ago, mate.

I'm going.
I have an experimental guitar I may bring, but it's a real Frankenstein so I might not, have decided about it yet. I took a broken guitar and slapped it back together just for use as a test bed of sorts.
