Don, Beautiful work , God I love the look of that Walnut, pertty. Did that color just pop with the finish or did you stain it? Kurt |

Yeah buddy! That's sweet. Everything works together. Very tastefully done. Only wish it had a "K" on the peghead. Steve |

Beautiful guitar, Don, in all respects. I love the wide purfling on top. Where did you get the ebony knobs for the tuners? I thought Gotoh only had plastic knobs. |

Gorgeous guitar, and very well photographed! Mmmmm, I just love Claro! So, you made the top purfling strips? Is the Walnut in the b/w/b/Walnut/b/w/b going crossgrain, or the long way? (can't quite see) Was it difficult to bend near the cutaway? Did you get it wet to bend it, or just use dry heat? (Sorry for all the questions - I'm planning to try this with some pieced-together burl.) Dennis |

Post subject: | Re: One More Out the Door |
Thanks again Everyone... Dennis, The grain in the walnut is going length wise. I made the purflings from the waste produced when I profiled the sides (before bending). Then bent them dry over a pipe immediately before installation. It's really not hard to do and it bends like butter, even dry. The purfling is figured so I didn't feel it was necessary to run the grain perpendicular to the bend. Plus, it's a lot more work. I just did it with koa purfling on an ebony guitar and it turned out nice but it too a long time. Let us know how yours turns out. Thanks!! |

Love the sound. Very open sounding, and even tempered. Nice! |
