Here is the latest one to leave home ... mad rw and master lutz topped Karol Signature body (16inch) with florentine cut, sideport, and a natural spanish cedar armrest bevel. The binding is mad rw as well, and the purf lines are blk/green/blk. Rosette is spalted maple with green and blk lines. The headplates (4pcbookmatch) and bridge are brw with blk/green veneer lines under the plates. Tuners are 510s. The Fb is ebony with a green purf line and ebony binding, side dots are paua ab , the logo is green ab. The inlay depicts a voyaguer canoeing down thru small islands, with windswept pines, at dusk. the moon is red ab, the islands, canoe and voyageur are blk mop, the trees are snakewood and green banded malachite, recon. The water reflections are paua. It was all cut by hand by yours truly. The guitar sounds as good as it looks .... its very loud, yet sensitive to the softest touch. Its even in response no matter where you play on the FB, and the sustain is excellent. That was only on day one .... I should have some sound bites available soon I hope. |

Just luxuriant. Warm colors with a few bright inlay bits - very nicely done. Really gorgeous instrument. |

Hey I just realized that the pix get larger and clearer when you click on em ... Thanks all .. as is usual with most pix taken and posted, you dont get the real beauty of the wood on a screen. That lutz top just glows and oozes cross grain rays ... its quite something. This is lutz top number two to be done, the first was a students (who has a few Larrivees, and doesnt play them all that much at home any more !!) This tonewood is VERY good for fingerstyle guitars ,, loud crisp full even .. it really does have it all. Now if Shane could only heal up, and get on to cutting some more creamy stuff for us |

Very cool Tony. Is the green a dyed veneer? |

WoW!!! That is an amazing looking instrument. Great job with the inlays for a very tasteful, personalized look. Can you post a picture that shows the armrest bevel a little better? Again, fantastic looking guitar! Darren |

Really classy... and very inspirational!!! I think I'll have to find some Mad RW myself. Are the black lines in the neck fiber? .020 ? Thanks for sharing! long |

Hi all, Green veneer .. yes, from LMI. the black is real wood also, not fibre, although I sometimes use it for thinner lines, like 10-15 thou. I think its dyed pear. Unfortunately, I only figured out today that the photographer didnt get any of the armrest - i am not so sure he even knew it was there, as the sp cedar was very dark and it blended in quite well, nice subtle look. The guitar is en route to its owner .. so no pix ... bummer. The neck lines are also the 22 thou wood veneer. here is the armrest on another recent one, very similar, same body style .. it went out before I could get hooked up for pro pix, so i only have my own ... its red cedar, very dark piece, and the B&S sides are coco formthe crazy ritz shot in the recent NTB ... |

I personally really love the inlay on this one. The paddler in his canoe going up the fretboard river is something that I think that is really cool. How did you get the leaves in the tree to show the different shades of green? Dye different parts more intensely or is it something else? I think that it is a really nice guitar. You should be very proud. The Madrose the the Lutz look great together. Great job. |

The tree boughs are banded green malachite Rob .. a recon stone product .. it has naturally occuring dark/light green stripes in it .. perfect for this. It cuts and sands like plastic. |

Tony, That's really a beautiful instrument. I'm sure the owner will be thrilled! I always like green lines with brown wood, it's just such a natural combination. |
