Have you bought cocobolo recently? It's not going to get cheaper, either...

And some luthiers...Kathy Wingert for one...charge a hefty premium for cocobolo because of the precautions they have to take to avoid serious allergic reactions to the dust and oils.

I think I shall make my own handles and totes, for $50 I can buy heaps of Cocobola and start my own black market of LN parts. TONYFRANCISTOOLWORKS.com, "Toothing irons, totes and Knob's"... I can see that phone running of the hook...

I can see a lot of dubious product SPAM e-mails heading your way too unless you change the wording slightly!

Well, you could just do what I did and go to Costa Rica yourself! :D No, I didn't find any tonewood, but I am pretty sure it could be found with some poking around! By the way, this beauty was about $40. I kind of hate to put salad in it!

There's a bulk sale in Iraq right now. Shipping isn't cheap though.

When I ordered my last batch of goodies from the Canadian rep of LN, Rob Cosman,
I had the same idea for coco handle and knob...
the guy I talked to on the phone said just forget about cocobolo...
he said that it was being discontinued,,,
while perhaps that was once a consideration, it appears that now its available again but appreciably more costly.(mabye the guy was just yanking my chain to get me to buy stock they had on hand I dont know,,,
What I do know is that I like the cherry well enough - I can always make a new tote and knob myself if I want a fancier one....
Cheers
Charlie

In my enthusiasm I forgot that detail.
Well, they never said there was a warranty either…
