Looking for recommendations on a digital scale. How good a scale do I need? I can pick one up on e-bay for twenty buck w/ 1 gram accuracy or should I hold out for something better. Looking to weight parts and shellac and the like. Thanks Peter |

I bought one for about $35 from the Office Depot near me that also has 1 gram readings. For Shellac it's fine - it doens't reall matter if you mix up a 2lb cut or a 1.85lb cut. Sometimes when measuring small amounts of epoxy I wish it had .1gram readings but I get by - you must suffer for your art right! |

I've got a little wee scale from an e-bay outfit that reads to 0.01 gram. Very handy with small amounts of epoxy and whatnot. The differences between bridge plates, braces and other parts is often a fraction of a gram, also, so it's great there, too. Can't imagine working without it... It only goes to 100 grams, but over that, I switch scales.... Cheap, too. |

HF has a little portable one that folds up into a case, and it is often on sale for about $12 or $13. Seems to work fine. Has a tare set, weighs in grams and ounces to one decimal place. |

I have a Toyo 250 pocket scale that works just fine. It seems to be out of stock in most places at the moment. I costs about $40. I did a google search and found the following site: http://www.rightonscales.com/web/pocketscales/. There seems to be a very large number of options for small scales. |
