I've bent sapele sides and have picked out curly maple binding with some laminted purfling from Bob c. I've got an ebony FB and bridge and I glued on a maple back veneer on the headstock. I thought about using a maple head veneer on the front but decided against it because of my inlay skills plus I didn't think that my logo would be prominent . What other choices of woods for the front of the headstock would you guys might consider? I'm a little color blind, so my wife trys to help. Clinton |

I generally like to use the same binding as the headstock, just to visually tie everything together. In some cases, it is better to try to match the headstock to the color of the fingerboard. On some guitars where I have used maple bindings, I have used ebony for the headstock. Other times, I use a rosewood headstock to match the rosewood fingerboard and bridge. In your case, that is what I would reccomend...use ebony as the headstock to match the fingerboard, and also place an ebony bridge on there as well. should prove to be an outstanding looking guitar! |

Clinton, I'd agree with the other fellas. You can't go wrong with matching the fretboard and bridge; my vote is for ebony. |

Yeah, I was wondering. It's just going to be awfully bland. Maybe this would be a good time to learn to put purflings on a headstock. How do you guys approach this? Clinton |

I like to use the side wood for the headstock, so my vote would be sapele and irregularities in the logo wouldn't be as noticeable as on maple. |
