I know Waddy just showed his pics of cutting the channel for his bindings. But does anyone have any in-depth pics of the tools you use to cut the channels in? I'm confused if people are using a gramil or something else. Anyone that either A) Cuts channels by hand or B) uses a Dremel and a home-made base could you please chime in? I would really appreciate it! I can't buy any jigs at the moment and so anything that is simple to make at home I would love to hear about. I know this subject has been discussed plenty, but I still feel a bit unclear. Also I am aware that the Dremel doesn't quite have the HP that most like - but it is new and quite accurate. Thanks all!

Christian, I used the Circle Cutter / Purfling Cutter I made for scoring my grooves, then cut the channels by hand with a chisel. It takes a long time, and is somewhat tense, but it works if you are careful. The proof, however will be in the pudding, when I actually bend and install the bindings and purflings. This was my first time to do it, so it can certainly be done this way. I have a Tut in the Tutorial Page on my cutter. It does not include the little scraper blade I made. I'll post a picture of it later. The only thing I don't like about my cutter, is that the Zebra Wood was harder than the Mahogany I made it out of, and cut a groove in it. I think I may modify my plan with an insert of Rock Maple that will take more punishment. Here is my cutter Circle/Purfling Cutter - Waddy Thomson
