Mark,

How much is he looking for? I am looking at a bunch of yellow cedar logs a week Monday. A friend of mine has been beachcombing for them under license and I will likely get some for guitar bits.

Westwind on Vancouver Island usually has yellow cedar. Your friend will probably want 'Boat Planking' grade, as the cheaper stuff has knots- which you can work around for guitar parts.
I don't know how they are on mail order (they are local to me) but they do ship a lot.
Might be worth a call.

Cheers

Dan Minard (DanielM on OLF??) also cuts yellow cedar from time to time, so he might be another potential source.

I can recommend (with absolutely no reservations) Woodbay Co. in Poulsbo, Wa. Very pleasant and helpful to deal with, will ship, as I recall prices were $3 / Bd. ft. for std & better, $5 / ft for clear, as of a two weeks ago. He has some large-dimension stuff, 8x8" by 12 to 16 feet, as well as a huge quantity of figured maple. His pride & joy is a giant, ultra-precise bandsaw, and he offers resawing at wonderful rates (up to 4 cuts free!) The yellow cedar that I saw was rough sawn; the maple, in excess of 50,000 B.F., was S2S. Their address is Woodbay Co, 6786 N.E. Woodbay Lane, Poulsbo, Wa, 98370. Hope you find this helpful, Mick
