Hi to all! I'm a newbie trying to learn the art of guitar building. I was wondering if any one could explain how a radius board works and what the purpose of it is. I don't quite understand if you radius your braces and then put them into place on the radius board or if you just place them with no radius? I'm trying to gather supplies now for my first guitar build and was wondering if I should build one or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Howdy Edlee, Just want to say hi and welcome to OLF. Also noticed that you're from Sikeston which is just about an hour drive. Anyway, I'm on my first build and just bought a couple radius templates from Luthier Suppliers (one of the sponsors in the links on top of the page). I'm soon to make a jig so that my router may slide in it which will in turn route out a bowl shape in some MDF I have. That bowl shape dish will be my sanding dish. They're about 24" in diameter. You can if you like Seach the Archives for any Keyword to read older posts from these fellers here in the OLF. I'll tell ya one thing, buying tools, jigs, templates and an ungodly assortment of accessories keeps me broke and in the house on Saturday Night. Ain't got no money to go out and have a gud time. But I sure like lookin' at my EIRW sides in my handmade mold. Okeh, hope you have fun with your first build and holler at me anytime. |
