My latest Woodcraft catalog has these marked as CLOSE OUT! I can't tell whether the prices are any lower than usual, though.

They probably still have not updated since they ran out of stock. The last they knew no more were going to be made. The come-back was faster than anyone expected, I think.

If one was a cynic one might suspect that this whole thing was a planned publicity stunt… I have no reason to believe so, but if it was, it sure was successful. All the woodworking forums and magazines on both sides of the Atlantic have been full of “OH NO!” posts for a long time, the vendors must have sold whatever Auriou rasps they had like hot cakes and prices on eBay soared. It got me looking into alternatives, and I found that Dick GMBH in Germany sell some Chinese rasps that look a lot like the “Dragon” rasps from Stewmac, but at a much better price. I also bought the Nicholson’s from Jamestown on Todd’s recommendation. Now it looks like I can have the Aurious as well; how many rasps do you need, anyways?!?!
