I am moving along on my first solo build , got the mahogany sides ( bought them prebent) tight in the forms , and glued in both blocks . I have noticed though , near the upper bout, close the to shoulders on both sides , a small bit of run-out , it appears as a little chaffing , or even like fish scales, where the very end of the grain ( one grain on each side, about an inch or so wide )is lifting ever so slightly ,at the out side of the tightest part of the bend . just to make a ridge there i can feel if I run my finger over the sides .. it does not appear to be a crack or structural. my first thought is to use some CA and sawdust to stabilize the crack and fill the void made by the lifting , which I should be able to sand flat later. or I was wondering if hide glue might be a better choice here since it will shrink . can wood dust be added to hide glue for colorization ? or maybe that's not neccessary . any input is greatly appreciated! thanks Jody |

My old camera does not work with my new pc ( vista), so far i have purchased two new cameras and had to return both of them , I will try again , in the next few days . thanks Jody |

That sounds to me like a minor crack caused while bending. If it's not significant, I would reinforce with ca. |

I agree, it's probably a small split that occurred when bending. Take care of it now so it doesn't come back to haunt you later. Cover the area in question with CA, put some waxpaper or clear packaging tape on a caul and clamp it to shape in the mold. When the glue dries give it a light sanding and you'll never be able to tell. |
