I've had a look at reconfiguring the Tutorial Page and had anticipated that it would be a simple cut and replace job - but, alas, not so. It seems that in the database migration there has been some re-indexing of the post id's so it's going to be a search and replace of each link individually- a royal PITA. So if anyone has some spare time to do some searches and post the results of where the tutes now reside here in this thread it would be greatly appreciated. I've done a few but I won't put them up live until I get it all sorted. Another strange thing has happened I can search and find the threads of some of Hesh's excellent tutorials but the first post is missing (which is the actual tutorial) I am hoping that some one has saved these to their PC in the event that they aren't recoverable through the database and they can be reposted because they are definitely far too useful to lose. Bob, I can find some time to do some. Do you want them PM'd or posted here? |

Bob, I'm willing to help out and have sent you a PM. It is probably a good idea to check with Lance and Brock though and see how they want to handle a tutorial section. |

We will get to it... just set tight though. We are still helping people sort out their log on issues. That is our first priority. Then we will start to address these other issues. Thanks for letting us know though. |

I think Hesh's tutorials as Hesh1956 might be lost as his account was deleted and I'm guessing that his posts therefore aren't in the database. I hope I'm wrong though. I spent some time looking for some tute's and found the same thing as you Bob with Hesh's posts, his weren't there. |

I just discovered an interesting phenomenon. Some of the posts, for instance, Hesh posts, do not currently have a name on them, because he has re-registered under a different name, I think. I can find the responses to the Back Reinforcement Strip Tutorial, but I can't find the original post. Not yet, anyway. Some of this may take a while, until things settle down a little, and accounts can be reassigned. |

Maybe when Brock and Lance help me restore my screen name (this one is a re-register) they may get pulled from the database? If not although this is a bummer for me I still have all the pics organized for each toot and I could re do them over time - if anyone is interested. |

Hesh, I just wanted to say that your tutorials are always appreciated. I hope they can salvage them from the old database so you don't have to do them over though. |

I think we're all interested, but I think too much re-doing before things have settled down here might be a waste of time. I would bet that eventually they can get individuals back to their original accounts. It'll just take a few weeks for everything to shake out. Heck, it's only been a few days. |

I've started fixing up the tute page but it's fairly laborious. If you go to the persons profile you can search through their posts which seems to speed things up a bit. But it's basically an individual search on each URL. If you have a look you'll see I've marked the URL's that have been repaired. If anyone else can post a few here it would be greatly appreciated. Still can't find Hesh's tutorials but they'll still be in the database under the name of "Guests" so I reckon they'll be retrievable after all of the login issues have been resolved and things setlle down a bit. Cheers Bob |

Circle/Purflng Cutter - Tutorial - Waddy Thomson - http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10102&t=13581&hilit=+back+strip Side Tapes Using Hot Hide Glue - Todd Stock - http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10102&t=13219&hilit=+back+strip I have found the Back Reinforcement thread numerous times, but the primary post is not there. All the responses are there, but the Hesh entry is gone, or doesn't show. Same for the Hot Hide Glue Tutorial. |

A related question if I may please. Instead of feeling sorry for myself I decided to get back on the horse and start doing more toots. So tonight I put another new one together - new topic....... But with the new software it seems that I can only upload three pics per post. Is there a way around this without using a photobucket type site that I have to maintain forever? Thanks. |

This works fine, Hesh: Fitting a Neck Tute, http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10102&t=15022&hilit=Tutorial But some of Hesh's other tutes have all of the responses but Hesh's tute is gone See here http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10102&t=13997&hilit=+Tutorial Looks like all the stuff posted by user "Guest", which was all the tutes Hesh done prior to that point in time when his account was re-established late last year, may have been deleted Hesh, this is a tragedy, I do have some of your stuff saved on my hard drive so will look later. The only thing I can suggest to over come the 3 image per post issue, is to make consecutive post asking users to not comment until all are up loaded. Cheers Kim |

Yeah, even the responses from Hesh are gone. Most of these were probably done under the Hesh1956 name. Don't know if there is any way to recover that stuff. It was in the data base before it was moved. Don't know what happened. I guess if the account was deleted, the system can't catalog the entrys. They are probably out there, just aren't attached to anything. |

Guys... just set tight. No need to go to a lot of work for nothing. I think all of these old images can get moved over. This just isn't the top priority at the moment. I think the problem is the path in the old posts. That should be a simple enough fix. We still need to sort out several log on issues. |

We're working on changing the URLs at present which have to be done manually. No problem but time consuming. The problem is with Hesh's tutorials that were posted under his previous account, which eventually showed the username as "Guests". You can search for, and find the thread but the intial post is missing (the tutorial)- Only the responses show up. I imagine they are still in the database but aren't showing when you view the thread. Cheers Bob |

Is the goal to have a Tutorial section under the Board index and not have to search the archives? I sure hope so and I'm a bit curious as I spent a little time looking for the elusive Tutorial Page. Thanks Peter |

Until the links are fixed, it won't do you much good anyway. Probably 1/3 is repaired. |
