Hello everyone,
I'm new to guitar building and French polishing, so I have a couple of questions. (Tip of the iceberg.) Couldn't find the answers looking through the archive, so I try my luck here. I apologize for the ignorance my questions reveal.
Better safe than sorry, though...
1. As I understand a 2# cut is usually applied during spit-coating and body sessions. I've experimented and found a 1# cut (with darker garnet shellac) wich gives a nice color. Will I have to apply more spit coats, say 6 instead of 3, and twice as many body sessions as with a 2# cut?
2. When glazing the guitar I understand a 1 lb cut is common. Should I be glazing with the same 1# cut?
I'm not done experimenting, but this 1# cut is promising colorvise.
Thanks,
Aasmund
