I'm still using the Stewmac base with a Dremel and it works fine so far. Definitely plan to get one of Bluescreeks pneumatic ones soon. A revelation for me quite a few years back was attending a Judy Threet seminar at LeeValley. Her sawing technique and inlay skill was amazing. I gleaned enough to radically improve my technique as well, just nowhere near as good as hers. Definitely use micro chisels to refine the cavity as well, especially sharp points. Working with dark woods like ebony and rosewood is a lot easier than lighter woods as far as hiding small (OK medium) oopsies.

I tried Larry Robinson’s technique of gluing the paper pattern to the work piece.
I then scribe the lines with an exacto.
Works pretty good, but the paper fuzzes up when cutting the cavities.
I have an issue with my laser printer resolution, the lines are wider than my jeweler’s blades.
I may invest in an in jet printer.

Thanks Jay for StewMac scribe tip (no pun intended).
Just got mine from StewMac and I believe it will be AWESOME for scribing inlays.
Its small and maneuverable and the tip is small and super sharp.
