Tai, you don’t know what your talking about! We’re not talking about mass production like Martin or Taylor.
Looking on Craigslist in my local area I could set up a more than adequate CNC machine and table for under $7,000 which would do everything anyone of us would need, easily.

A little light reading for you on small shop CNC machines. Looks like I could set up new for $10,000. The Laguna IQ looks pretty good actually.

Pretty certain I could get a new Fadal machining center for well under $100k, and an industrial router for even less. Rod is right you could easily set yourself up with adequate cnc router technology for $10K or less.

Yeah, when I was looking hard at cnc’s, 10k$ new was the budget required. Too bad they don’t run themselves...

"Too bad they don’t run themselves.."

That is the down side. You have to have a skilled person to program the machine and an intelligent monkey to run it. And that is the cynic's point of view. You actually need a skilled individual to run it well. Much of the time may appear they may appear to be baby sitting the machine, but often they "catch" things that would go wrong before they happen.
For a hobbyist low cost 3D printers and small CNC machines can be a fun way to make things. There are some successful businesses using them too, but usually in a "niche" situation.

Yes. I would dearly love a CNC and could put one to serious use. The only problem is me...and my fundamental lack of computer skills.
