I haven't had a problem logging in. I've had a problem just rendering any page. The error is:

Code:
Your connection is not private

net::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID
Subject: luthiersforum.com

Issuer: cPanel ECC Domain Validation Secure Server CA 3

Expires on: Jan 19, 2025

Current date: Jan 25, 2025

Basically, all websites now use an encrypted communication (that's the 's' in 'https'), which requires a digital certificate from a official provider. The owners of luthersforum.com had bought one, but it expired Jan 19.

So the owners need to renew their certificate.

Until they do, I have found that at least in the Chrome browser, the error message contains a button "Advanced". Click that, then scroll down and click "Proceed to http://www.luthiersforum.com (unsafe)".

Hope this helps,

Greg

I haven't had problems with the OLF, but Firefox has been a PITA on many sites, esp logging in and rendering web pages. FF v134.0.2

I've had problems for about a week with Kindle/Silk. Safari is fine. I've done advanced; but to log in; in order to see photos; I had a choice between me, and someone else! Now that's weird. So I've just been using the Mac.

All this security and password stuff. Can't everyone just mind their own business? I don't get it. On my own computer that I've always used I have to have a site send a text to my phone; that is turned off in another room; to prove it is me.

It's absurd.

I have the same problem with Chrome.

I'm not a tech guy, but could Lance get around to renewing the certification? This has made checking in and using the forum a big pain...

The problem is that weaseling through lax security makes money, and in some parts of the world, it is a steady job. People show up to work at cubicles, and it is their job (along with many co-workers) to scam the rest of us. It is not just individuals who enjoy pranks and causing senseless chaos. If there weren’t money in doing it, this type of stuff would be a smaller problem.

The computer security training I receive every few months appropriately scares me into being cautious.

No issue with Tapatalk which makes me think the plugin on the forum to enable Tapatalk in the first place is probably not using a secure url.

I guess this also means my creds are passed from the Tapatalk app to the forum openly.

Good thing I use different passwords for every site. :)

And +1 to Don’s comments. Bad actors these days are mostly enterprises in foreign countries or nation states. The days of the basement hacker just causing mischief are long gone. Good times.

I had this a few days ago and tried sending an email to Lance. It bounced as undeliverable. I hope everything is OK in Lance land.
